There is one user who testified that the Spirit Esprit EL-455 20-Inch Stride Elliptical is a remarkable machine and some even consider it to outweigh the traditional life fitness trainers at the gym. Most consumers claim that assembling the trainer is a four step process, with the only hang-up being securing the pole to the main unit. “The machine is very heavy and if you have to take it through stairs, you need two people. Opening the box and getting the machine out is a chore in itself but well worth it in the end. This is the kind of machine that will motivate you to exercise more. Installation is a breeze and took me an hour not including the time to take the individual parts out of the box and carry them upstairs to my exercise room.”

”The Spirit Esprit EL-455 20-Inch Stride Elliptical has a heart rate strap but it is not supplied – you can buy the strap if you want. If not you can use the stationary grips for heart rate control programs.  As I use a separate heart rate monitor, this is not a problem for me. It does make the heart rate control programs rather useless unless you don’t use the swinging arms and keep your hands on the stationary grips. The machine itself has had a few minor skweeks but they seem to have gone away with use. I did spray a little wd40 on the joints this morning and the machine made very little noise at all. The work out is good, I have set up a program that keeps it on level 3 for 52 minutes. Once I build up some endurance I plan to try some of the programs that vary the level. “

“I have only two very, very small qualms, one of which I can fix if I need to. 1) The arm “stride” is a little short.  Nothing drastic! However, that is what saves on floor space which is a hot commodity.  2) I currently have no magazine holder. There is a small lip over the display panel that I used this morning but my magazine kept falling from side to side. Not a big deal as I can buy something to hold it up for me and has nothing to do with the functionality of the elliptical itself.  Overall, I’m pretty sure I just made the best “big” purchase of my life! As a mom to a 9 month old and wife to a husband who works full time and goes to school full time, my time is a precious commodity. I’ve cancelled my gym membership and can now workout anytime I have a moment at home. The best part is, I won’t be missing the smelly, sweaty, usually broken machines at the gym! If you’re debating, get it!”
